FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN IS THE GLENORCHY FUN RUN?  

The 2023 edition of the Hazell Bros Glenorchy Fun Run will be held on the Sunday 1 October at the MyState Bank Arena.

 

WHERE CAN I ENTER? 

Our preferred method of registration is online.   If for some reason you cannot enter online, entries will only  be accepted on our official paper entry form.  Contact us if you need a paper entry form.  Entries close at 4pm, Saturday 30 September.   

 

WHAT EVENTS ARE THERE?  

We have 3 events as part of the Hazell Bros Glenorchy Fun Run.  The Steeline 2km run focus on the kids, The Running Edge 5km and the Pace Financial Services 10km. 

 

WHO CAN ENTER THE EVENTS?  

Anyone can enter the Hazell Glenorchy Fun Run.  The 2km event is open to all ages but we promote it as a Primary School event. Placegetter and age group prizes will only be presented to Primary School students.  The 5km event is open to runners and walkers.  Walkers should not be in big groups and remain single file to ensure runners can get past. We recommend the minimum age for participating in the 5km is 10 years old.  The 10km event is for runners only. We recommend the minimum age for participating in the 10km is 12 years old.  Please ensure you select the event most appropriate to your ability and current fitness level.  

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?   

2km ($10), 5/10km (Adults: $20, Under 18: $15) plus online processing fees.  

 

WHERE CAN I PARK?

All events start and finish at MyState Bank Arena, Glenorchy.  There is plenty of parking in the main carpark for all participants and spectators. 

 

WHAT TIME TO THE EVENTS START?  (Times subject to change pending advice from the venue)  

Steeline Tasmania 2km (12:15pm start)

The Running Edge 5km (12:30pm start)

Pace Financial Services 10km (12:30pm start)

WHAT FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE?   

  • Toilets 

  • Bag Drop

  • Drink stations - 1 available for 10km participants only (at approx the 5km mark)

  • Post event drink station

 

WHERE DO I GET MY RACE NUMBERS FROM? 

Race number collection will be from The Running Edge, 73 Murray Street Hobart. 

Friday 29th September 10am - 4pm

Saturday 30th September 10am - 2:00pm

Sunday 1st October - from 11am (inside entry door 3)

 

WHEN DO ENTRIES CLOSE? 

Online entries close at 4pm on Saturday 30th September.  Late entries will be accepted depending on availability.

CAN I CHANGE MY EVENT? 

Yes! Changes can be made up until event week using the link in your confirmation email.  

 

HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER FOR THE EVENT? 

Events don't go ahead without many volunteers.  If you would like to volunteer your time on the day of the event please contact us on nsac62@gmail.com

ARE THERE FINISHER MEDALS?

No. We aim to keep costs low and have the event as affordable for participants as we can, and as a result, finishers do not get medals.  

 

WHAT'S THE TIMETABLE FOR RACE DAY? (To be confirmed) 

On race day, you will need to ensure you arrive early to collect your race number and get warmed up.  Timetable for the day is;

11:00am - race number collection (for those not collected at The Running Edge).  
12:15pm - 2km start
12:30pm - 5km start

12:30pm- 10km start
1:30pm - presentations

 

CAN PARENTS/GUARDIANS ACCOMPANY CHILDREN IN THE 2KM EVENT?  

Yes they can, but we do ask that you register in the event as well for insurance purposes (at no cost to you). 

 

HOW ARE THE EVENTS TIMED?

All events will be hand-timed and participants will have their number recorded as they cross the line.  Please cross the line and immediately leave the finish shute.

ARE THERE PACE RUNNERS? 

Pacer Applications are managed by the Tasmanian Road Runners (TRR).

On the day each ‘TRR Angel’ will be easily identifiable in their ‘TRR Angel’ tops with their pace time clearly visible on a flag attached to their back.

TRR also organise ‘Foot Soldiers’ whose job it is to come last.

If you are interested in acting in either role, please contact TRR directly before registering.

IS THERE A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF ENTRIES?

There are currently no limits, but we will be guided by public health advice if things change.

WHAT IS BEING PUT IN PLACE TO MANAGE COVID-19
There are a few things that you can do to help ensure the safety of participants, spectators and our many volunteer officials. These include:

  •  Keep up-to-date with the latest Government announcement about Covid-19 as well as information that we will provide as the event approaches.

 

  • If you a feeling unwell (such as sore throat, runny nose, fever, tiredness) do not attend the event at all.

 

  • Bring along drinks etc. sufficient for your hydration needs.​

 

  • Do your best to follow appropriate social distancing and be respectful of other participants.

 

  • Follow sensible hygiene protocols i.e. avoid intentional physical contact, no spitting, proper coughing practice, make use of sanitizer available.
